Two brothers-in-law, different in age and education, get along well; they love the mountains, irony, the grappa from the Piave Valley, and... the pipe. Because it 'significantly enhances human personality,' it gives anyone who smokes it, regardless of their profession or social background, style, elegance, and dignity. They, therefore, plan a book to celebrate it. Different from the usual, not a manual, nor a catalog, but a surrealist, humorous 'little treatise,' a cultured and refined divertissement, which, if needed, would become the distinctive mark of their friendship.
