Zulu, smooth finishing.

Giancarlo Savinelli was born and raised smelling briar, listening about grains and bird’s eyes while watching the birth of new shapes and new series.
This is why he is able to recognize the precious and unique grain of the briar as much as the merit of the time necessary in order to find such characteristics in a pipe.
Because of this, for over 10 years now, we have been saving bowls with an outstanding straight grain out of more than 150.000 blocks of briar each year. The result has been a very restricted selection, divided in different shapes, worth of being part of this project. The FLAME in the wood is precious but technically more delicate during the making process, even more when working on predefined pipes where the shape and dimension need to be preserved.
The GRAIN needs to be thick, straight and is usually the extension of a bird’s eye.
We offer it with a simple acrylic black stem: a natural and classic beauty, timeless. Rare and unique pieces, selected one by one by Giancarlo Savinelli, deserving his signature in silver on the stem.
Model 404 is a very particular model known in Italy with the name cornet, while abroad is called Zulu or Woodstock. The bowl is a typical conical Dublin, the shank is very thin with an elliptical shape.
